We celebrated his birthday yesterday with friends and family:) It was a great time...somewhat bittersweet because Tom wasn't able to be with us due to his deployment, but we made the best of it.
This past Saturday marked the halfway point in Tom's deployment. Yay! I'm really praying that these next three months will go just as quickly as the first three. Positive attitude and the busyness of raising two children: that's what has been getting me through this. That, and the strength that God has given me daily. I know that without Him that things would be much more difficult to manage.
For those of you who may not be 'up to speed' here is a little summary of the last 4 months. On January 10th Tom left for deployment to an 'undisclosed location.' Shortly after that Casandra, the boys, and I traveled back to Iowa. Casandra is now back in Sioux City and in full swing again working at The Girls and Boys Home there. William, Adrian, and I are currently living with my parents in Arnolds Park. Tom is supposed to leave his deployment sometime in mid-July and head back to England to inprocess. Once he's all squared away there he will make plans to take leave and be with us here in Iowa. We're hoping he'll be home at the beginning of August.
Just because we are here (in Iowa) doesn't mean that we won't be going back to England. We are set to go back to England and back to our home on August 31st. We have to finish our 3 year tour in England, which ends January 2012, and then we hope to be stationed back in the states somewhere to finish out Tom's time in the USAF before he 'separates'/gets out.
Many of you have been asking me where Tom is and how he is doing. While I can't tell you where he is, know that he is in a safe place out of harms way. As far as how he's doing... Please pray for the Lord to give him strength and show him love. It's not easy being away from the ones you love, especially when the people you are with only care about one person, themselves.
From what I hear, most everyone is only concerned with how things affect their own person and disregard everything else. It's tough out there. Please pray for all of our service members.
