Well, we are under 50 days...I'll be vague for OPSEC (OPeration SECurity) reasons. I have to admit the time has gone by much quicker than I had anticipated and while we still "can't wait" to be reunited, we know that it will come eventually. I've been keeping busy through this time apart by playing with my boys, talking and sharing with friends and family, and attending as many social and family outings as possible.
Although things do come up, such as the pinkeye that has suddenly swept through and taken the kids by...well...you know. Yes, William got it and now Adrian has contracted it also. Thought I was cautious enough and kept the kids apart and tried to clean their hands as much as humanly possible...oh well!
The kids are doing GREAT otherwise. William, whom I swore started the dreaded 'terrible twos' when he was about 16 months old, finally seems to be getting to his fun, well-behaved self now that he's just over 2 years old. Who'd of thought? He's adding to his vocabulary on a regular basis. His latest word is "stuck." This comes in handy when a toy is lodged in a smaller place than it's supposed to be in...lol.
Adrian (shown in the picture above) is 7 1/2 months old and taking off. He just recently started crawling and has even been pulling himself up next to the coffee table. He's been steady at 20 pounds for the last two or three months, which is great. I wouldn't mind if he didn't get any heavier for a while. I tried for couple months ago to switch him to formula in an effort to free myself slightly, but it seems that little Aday had other plans. So we are still nursing and introducing new solids all the time. He LOVES table food and has a BIG appetite, which has been a lot of fun.
I have to say that we have been staying home quite a bit lately because of everything going on. "Papa and Nana" have been SO busy with their jobs and working outside in the garden and backyard. We do try to get outside at least once each evening, however, I don't dare go outside by myself because William tends to run away from me just a little bit. My mom, with her infinite wisdom, nailed it on the head when she said that "it takes a village." And it sure seems that way lately. I'm so very thankful to have had my SIL Casandra with us in England and now to be leaving with my parents. The support has been so necessary to keep my sanity. I could NEVER have done this all by myself for 6 months.
Now we look forward to the little things that make the time go by. Next Monday starts the summer season here in the Iowa Great Lakes and I'm so excited to be given the opportunity to play in the big band that I was a part of for a few years, The Monday Night Dick Bauman Big Band. It looks like I may get to 'sit in' a few times throughout the summer.
***For those of you still receiving an email version of my blog, if you'd like to be taken off the list, please let me know by sending a reply email.
I hope you all are doing well.... Until next time....
