Things are going well here otherwise. We're looking forward to Friday (pay day) so that we can get our own internet and phone lines set up asap! We're also thinking about going to London for a day on Sunday. They have many group outings available at the base's travel office so that you can have a tour guide. It's just a thought right now, but we're excited about the possibility.
Next week we're excited to have some family come visit!!! It will be so fun to have Beth and Elise, Tom's Aunt and Cousin from Chicago, stay with us for a night. They are in Ireland for a couple of months so this worked out perfectly that they are able to come see us for a bit. It will be wonderful to see a couple of familiar faces:)
This past weekend we had a chance to visit Cambridge for a couple of hours. It's only about a 20 minute drive for us to get to the Park and Ride Bus stop just outside the city. Someone told us this was the best way to go since parking is so expensive in Cambridge. Plus, we had no clue where to go.
When we first arrived the bus dropped us off at the only shopping mall in the area, The Grafton. It has it's own Cinema, tons of little shops, and some places to eat...even a Burger King. Not that we are Burger King fanatics....just interesting to see. We quickly got tired of the mall so we decided to venture out and take the bus to our next destination.
There are so many wonderful museums that are part of the University of Cambridge. We really wanted to go to the Science Museum, but ended up going to the Archaeology and Anthropology Museum instead because it was the only one open on Saturdays. Go figure! It was just nice to get in somewhere warm though. It was a bit chilly that day. At least it wasn't raining though.
William found it to be quite stimulating because he fell fast asleep after a few exhibits and some food.
It wasn't the most exciting day, but at least we got our feet wet and know our way around Cambridge a little bit better for the next time. The bus system is a bit tricky as there are many forms of public transportation and numerous drop-off/loading areas everywhere. It tends to get confusing which station you need to get on and off to get to where you want to go.
